Position Description - Research Associate I – Preclinical R&D Team

The Research Associate I supports the R&D efforts of ArunA Bio by aiding in the development of novel exosome therapies for a number of neurological diseases. This position must work collegially as a part of a larger team and requires the individual to carry out complex tasks. We are seeking a biologist with in vivo research experience. The successful candidate would participate in a wide variety of research activities including animal care, animal technical procedures, animal health evaluations, and research data collection.


·        Perform routine, pre-operative, and post-operative care of research animals

·        Assist during and/or perform surgical and other technical procedures with rodents

·        Treat rodents with experimental therapeutics using multiple routes of administration

·        Skillfully and accurately use a variety of equipment such as pipettors, autoclaves, hot bead sterilizer, microscopes, anesthesia equipment, and behavioral apparatus

·        Evaluate daily animal health while maintaining accurate, legible, and detailed records

·        Follow established protocols meeting current Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) requirements

·        Maintain comprehensive documentation of R&D procedures

·        Collect data during animal behavioral assessments

·        Assist in daily company operation and maintenance of the lab space

·        Manage multiple projects simultaneously with limited supervision

·        Participate in occasional weekend work

·        Complete and maintains job-specific certification and/or training as provided

·        Comply with Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) regulations and guidelines


·          Research experience in a small animal laboratory setting

·          Technical skill in administering experimental therapeutics to rodents (e.g. intravenous, intranasal, intracranial, and/or intrathecal injections)

·          Experience with rodent surgery (e.g. sterile technique, monitoring anesthesia, suturing)

·          Experience with models of neurological disease (e.g. stroke, TBI, Parkinson’s)

·          Exceptional organizational and documentation skills with strict attention to detail

·          Demonstrated calmness and clarity of thought under pressure

·          Self-motivated and results driven while demonstrating personal accountability

·          Proven ability to multi-task and meet multiple high priority deadlines

·          Strong written and verbal communication skills

·          Proven ability to work independently with limited supervision

·          Proficient in data entry including programs/software such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel


Education: A bachelor’s degree in biological sciences, cell biology, or similar discipline with 1-2 years’ laboratory experience is preferred. A candidate with an associate’s degree in a comparable field with minimum 2-4 years’ experience in a related position at a biotech or pharmaceutical company may be considered.
